Dave Grohl Had ‘No Idea’ His Daughter Violet Signed a Record Deal: ‘She’s Just Totally Doing Her Own Thing’<\/p>\n

Violet released her first two solo singles in December<\/p>\n

Violet Grohl is forging her own path<\/p>\n

During an appearance on\u00a0The Chris Moyles Show<\/em>\u00a0on Radio X\u00a0on Monday, Feb. 23,\u00a0Dave Grohl\u00a0opened up about his daughter’s musical endeavors \u2014 and said he had nothing to do with it.<\/p>\n

So Violet, my daughter, she\u2019s 19, about to turn 20, she made this album with a producer named Justin Raisen, and she did it on her own,\u201d Dave, 57, said. “She met the producer, and they would go to the studio every day and she would send me songs when she was finished. But I had absolutely nothing to do with this record at all.”<\/p>\n

The Foo Fighters frontman went on to explain that while he would’ve loved to be more involved \u2014 he wasn’t aware of her progress until she sat down and told him over dinner.<\/p>\n

“I had no idea. I knew she was looking to sign a record deal, and she was like, ‘Hey Dad, can I come over for dinner tonight?’ And I\u2019m like, ‘Yeah, sure. What do you want me to make?’ And she came over and told me, like, ‘I signed my record deal today,'” he recalled.<\/p>\n

Dave continued, “I\u2019m just like, ‘Oh my God!’ So, I\u2019m totally uninvolved. I\u2019m the dad who wants to be there and know everything. And she\u2019s just totally doing her own thing. It\u2019s amazing.”<\/p>\n

Dave called his daughter “incredibly talented” \u2014 and said her work even inspired his upcoming record.<\/p>\n

“It really did. The way that they made that record and the energy of it, I was like, ‘Oh, man. I\u2019ve just been inspired by my daughter\u2019s debut album.’ It\u2019s cool,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n
