It’s been quite a week for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. A few days ago she made a comment that she might leave Chicago if things didn’t improve, then subsequently had a double-double in a win over the Connecticut Sun. Now she’s facing league discipline before the team takes on one of their fiercest rivals.

On Thursday, the WNBA announced that Reese will be suspended for the game against the Fever due to an accumulation of technical fouls.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been suspended one game after receiving her eighth technical foul of the 2025 season, the WNBA announced today,” the league said in a statement.

“Under WNBA rules, a player or coach is automatically suspended without pay for one game upon receiving an eighth technical foul during the season. For every two additional technical fouls received during that season, the player or coach will be automatically suspended for an additional game.

“Reese incurred her eighth technical foul with 0:46 remaining in the second quarter during Wednesday’s game versus the Connecticut Sun. She will serve her suspension on September 5, when the Sky visit the Indiana Fever.”

Reese made waves this week when she hinted that she might look at other teams if the Sky don’t start making improvements in the upcoming offseaosn.

“I’m not settling for the same (expletive) we did this year,” Reese said. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me… I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason. So it’s going to be very, very important this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”
