Tom Dearden’s Agent Addresses Cowboys Future

Tom Dearden’s future at the North Queensland Cowboys has again become a major talking point, with his management recently addressing speculation surrounding the Queensland playmaker. Dearden remains contracted to the Cowboys through the end of the 2029 season, but reports about a possible move to Sydney have continued throughout 2026.

In July, Dearden’s long-time agent, Sam Ayoub, addressed reports that the five-eighth could consider leaving North Queensland for family reasons. Ayoub indicated that Dearden remained committed to the Cowboys, providing some reassurance amid the ongoing speculation.

However, the story resurfaced in September after former player and player agent Braith Anasta said Dearden’s management had spoken with clubs in Sydney about a potential move. That claim has added another layer to the uncertainty surrounding the star playmaker’s long-term future.

Dearden has also publicly indicated his commitment to North Queensland, while the Cowboys continue to regard him as an important part of their team. With his long-term contract already in place, any potential move would require significant negotiations between Dearden, his management and the Cowboys.

For now, the contrasting reports mean questions remain about Dearden’s future, although his existing contract keeps him tied to North Queensland for several more seasons.
